Part 2 of 3 of A Ramble Along Route D Southbound, Spring, 2023
In part 2 of this series, I pick up where the last one left off at NW Market St and 15th Ave NW, and head south along King County Metro’s Route D line as it rolls through the Interbay neighborhood along Elliot Ave W. I like the Ballard Bridge because it is the biggest of the 4 drawbridges that cross the Ship Canal between Puget Sound/The Salish Sea and Lake Washington and Lake Union. It is the highest one above the water and as such, affords great views. Ballard has a rich fishing and maritime history and the docks around this bridge reflect that. 15th Ave NW as it becomes Elliot Ave W is a major arterial between Belltown/Downtown and Ballard and Blue Ridge. That makes this this another walk through a pass-through neighborhood. Enjoy!
