A Ramble Northbound Border to Border, February, 2024

This one starts at the 16 Ave S bridge and rolls north toward and up 4th Ave S very nearly all the way to S Spokane St. This is intended to be a 5-part series with an installment every other month. It will go from south to north, border to border, ending up right at Jackson Park golf course. I could have picked a longer route but this one just seems to work and is a good walk through an area that is rather underrepresented. This whole area is essentially landfill from Seattle’s beginnings in the 1850s when they dredged Elliot Bay, flattened hills and kind of deforested the area. That makes the ground here unsuitable for building tall so it is rare, if not illegal, to go more than 4 stories. As such, and as flat as it is, it is perfect for light industry of all kinds. The trainyards are here, too. Enjoy!
